When you meet someone who seems very happy, energetic and motivated, generally the last thing you imagine is that they suffer from self-loathing and depression. Check out my conversation with Andrea Loewen who managed to overcome self-loathing, cope with depression and learned to love herself.

About This Episode

In this episode I chat with Andrea Loewen. Andrea is a writer, theatre-maker, and choreographer in Vancouver, BC. However our topic today has nothing to do with any of Andrea’s amazing skills. Despite Andrea being an incredibly talented and seemingly happy-go-luck person, she actually suffered, and still occasionally suffers from depression.

Andrea is lucky enough to be in a place now where she can talk openly about her experience, in-fact she loves talking about depression and self-loathing even though she knows that it can make others feel incredibly uncomfortable. I love her openness and even fun approach towards what can be a very dark topic! Andrea’s first book, Feeling Better: A Field Guide to Liking Yourself, is released in February of 2019 and is available for pre-sale via Amazon and Indigo.

I hope that you enjoy this episode and get a lot from it. You might even, like me, come to a big ah-ha moment!

We talk pretty candidly about depression and Andrea does go into the feelings that she experiences so if you are someone who suffers from depression or mental health then do listen with caution and make sure that you are kind to yourself and take care of yourself during and after the episode.
